sCIART INITIATIVE, INC.
a 501c3 nonprofit which promotes the convergence of the arts, sciences, and technology
In 2013, half way through graduate school, my growing dissatisfaction with the disparate feel of the science-art movement led to my founding of SciArt Magazine, a bimonthly publication dedicated to science-based art, third culture conversation, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and STEAM education.
In 2014 we grew and became SciArt Initiative. Taking advantage of the ways in which the Internet connects us, and the increasingly popular model of "the pop-up," SciArt Initiative was born as a virtual platform and pop-up events organization in New York City. Since, we have developed monthly recurring programming in and outside of NYC including science-based art shows, a book club, and a LASER talk series. We also operate an annual cross-disciplinary collaborative residency program, and an annual member's showcase. SciArt has directly supported - through publication, exhibition, and live events - the work of hundreds of scientists and artists worldwide.
The goals of SciArt Initiative are three fold; to bridge the gulf between the arts and sciences via the platforms of art (social); to highlight and celebrate the commonalities of the arts and sciences (philosophical); to explore the potentials of art and science to create something new (innovation).
